[REUTER'S TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. >_. _< CRICKET. AUSTRALIANS V. NORTH OF ENGLAND. ANOTHER MATCH WITH ALL ENGLAND. SMOKERS V. NON-SMOKERS. (Received September 3, 8 p.m.) London, September 2. The cricket match at Nottingham between the Australians and eleven of the North of England was continued to-day. There was again a good at-

tendance of spectators, and fine weather was experienced during the day, but the wicket was much cut up. The first innings of the visitors closed for a total of 105. The Home team then went in, and remained at the wickets all day, their second innings closing for 255. The principal scorers were—Barlow, bowled, 101, and Flowers, caught, 90. The Australians now require to make 242 to win the match. (Received September 4, 12.40 p.m.) September 3. The cricket match Australians v. North of England was concluded today at Nottingham, and resulted in a victory for the Home team by 165 runs. Owing to the bad state of the wicket, the Australians were only able to put together 76 out of the 242 which they required to win, none of the batsmen being able to stand against the bowling, which proved most effective, and cut up the ground. The weather was fine, and there was a good attendance of spectators. (Received September 4, 11.30 a.m.)

An extra match between the Australian cricketers and a team representing All England has been arranged for Thursday, the 11th inst., and following days, at Kennington Oval.

The match for the benefit of the cricketers fund will take place at Lords ground on Monday, 15th inst., between eleven of smokers and non-smokers. Each team will be partly formed of members of the Australian team. -- +■ THE MELBOURNE CUP, (Received September 4, 1 a.m.) Melbourne, September 3. Nothing is yet doing in the betting on the Melbourne Cup.
