(Received August 20, 1.10 a.m.) Melbourne, August 19, Sai’ed, this morning, the Union steamship Wairarapa, for the Bluff. Hobart, August 18. The reconstruction of the Tasmanian Ministry, rendered necessary by the resignation of the Hon, W. El. Giblin, has been effected by Douglas, the Premier, and portfolios have been allotted
as follows: Premier and Colonial Secretary, the Hon, A. Douglas; Colonial Treasurer, the Hon. W. H. Burgess; Attorney-General, the Hon. J. S. Dodds; Minister for Lands and Works, the Hon. N. J. Brown. (Received August 20, 1 p.m.) Sydney, August 20. Arrived, the Tarawera, yesterday. The proposals to be submitted by the Government for the extension of the railway system of the colony includes the construction of 600 miles of new rails and a plan for light railways over a level plain.
