SOUTH AUSTRALIAN FINANCES
AND PROPOSED TAXES.

Adelaide, August 13. The financial statement was made in the Assembly last night. The Treasurer referred to the gravity of the financial position of the colony, and announced that Government proposed the imposition of a land tax of Jd in the £, without exemption, and an income tax on invested capital of 6d, and on incomes from professions or trades of 3d in the £. The revenue from these sources, it is expected, would amount to £200,000 yearly.
