FIRE BRIGADE.

The monthly meefciug of the Volunteer Fire Brigade was held in tbe Town Hall last evening; present—Captain Burger, Lieut. M'Ewan, Branchman Brayshaw, Foreman Greenwood, Secretary Close, Firemen Orams, SumsioD, Branchman Schulstad, Treasurer Gerraghty, Firemen Smith and Coutts. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The half-yearly balance-sheet was submitted, and held over to be audited. Foreman Greenwood and Treasurer Gerraghty were appointed to audit the members' fond account. Mr J. Woods was unanimously elected a member of the brigade. On a ballot beiug taken for Foreman of the Hook and Ladder Company, the choice resulted in favour of Fireman Sumsion, who was thus elected. Fireman Ziegler was appointed DeputyForeman Hook and Ladder Company. Foreman Greenwood appointed Fireman Anderson as Deputy-Foreman Hose Company. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Borough Council requesting the Council to alter the names of the Fire Inspectors for the borough; and that the Brigade suggest the names of his Worship the Mayor (D. Hannan, Esq.), with Captain Burger and Lieut. M'Ewen ; and that the Council appoint one other to act with the above-named gentlemen.

The officers reported all the plant in good working order. Members' fund receipts were handed in to the amount of 10s; which concluded the business of the meeting.
