Auckland, August 5. A young lady, a school teacher, was committed to the Asylum. The cause was over study. The wife and daughter of the miner Welson, attempted to upset 'egacies to nephews and niece under the will, on the ground of coercion and undue influence. The attempt failed, and defendants in the case at the Supreme Court to-day were saddled with cost?. Dunedin, August 6. In the case Lawson v. The Queen, in which the plaintiff, a sawmiller, was awarded £I6OO damages by a special jury against the Government for destruction of his sawmill by sparks, alleged to have been emitted from a railway engine, Judge Williams has granted a new trial.
