(Received August 5, 1.25 a.m.) Sydney, August 4. Forty-seven horses have accepted for the Hawkesbury Grand Handicap, forty-five for the County Purse, and forty-two for the Metropolitan Stakes. The acceptances are considered very satisfactory. Melbourne, August 4. The following scratchiugs for the Melbourne Cup have been posted today Bonnie Fortune, Chloe, Elocution, Forward, Hawthorn, Marshall Ney, Wetal [1 Metal], Napier, Shield [? Sheela], Sheet Anchor, Stafford. (Received August 5, 12.5 p.m.) August 5. The following further Cup scratchings are posted;—Buckingham, Fayo,
First Demon, Jessie, Kathleen, Liverpool, Maggie Moore, Oudeis, Princess Lome, Wing.—[These bring the number of scratchings up to 31, out of the 134.]
