MINERS ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Miners Association was held in the Templars Hall, Dillman's, on Friday, 29th nit.; present—P. Dungan, Esq. (President), Messrs Voysey, Watson, Hay, Nicholas, Praser, Harris, and Morris (Secretary). Mr Nicholas reported that he had, in conjunction with Mr Barrett, canvassed the district for signatures to the petitions for a reduction in the price of water aud the abolition of ihe gold duty. The petitions were handed in to the meeting, both being numerously signed. Mr W. Morris reported that while in Wellington he had circulated among goldfields members many copies of the Kumar a Times containing the report of the special inquiry held before Dr. Giles and Mr Gordon, re a reduction in the price of water and sludge-chan-nel management, and, in return, had received many assurances of support on their behalf. The Treasurer reported that the funds at the disposal of the Association were not sufficient to meet the expense incurred in getting up the petitions, and each member of the committee was requested to ask members to pay their subscriptions at their earliest convenience, so as to enable the Association to meet their liabilities. The meeting then adjourned.
