The official declaration of the poll for the Inangahua district took place at the Court House, Reefton, at noon on Monday last. The following is the result:— Menteath. Reeves. Reefton 176 169 Black's Point ... 128 28 Boatman's 71 149 Little Grey ... 16 37 Granville 39 25 Ahaura 38 48 Orwell Creek ... 21 28 Moonlight ... 22 5 Nelson Creek ... 82 107 No Town ... 71 48 Taylorville ..." 80 79 Totals ... 744 723 Majority for Mr Menteath, 21. Mr Menteath returned thanks and stated that he would use every effort to represent the general requirements of the district. _Mr Reeves also returned thanks to his supporters for having placed him so well up as they had, and thought that many who recorded their vote against him had been unmindful of his past services on behalf of the district. He unfortunately had been very late in the field, and that had necessarily operated against him in the election.
