The London Times announces that China has rejected the demand of France for indemnity on account of the Langson affair, and that war between the two countries is believed to be inevitable.
Mr Blake’s Committee will meet at Mr Yortt’s private house, Dillman’s Town at 7 o’clock this evening. Mr Seddon’s Joint Committee will meet at the Okuku Water-race Office, Seddon street, this (Thursday) evening, at 7 o’clock.
Robin Hood’s Waterloo Cup programme closed for the full amount. Two cash bonds come to Kumara to shareholders No. 872 (£25), and 1013 (£5). That valuable freehold property in Main street, till lately occupied by Mr S. S. Pollock, is now for positive sale. It consists of two shops, sitting room, bedroom, kitchen, &c., and there is also a splendid garden attached to it, lined with fruit trees and choice flowers.
