The statement published by the Pall Mall Gazette in reference to the .settlement of the Egyptian question, is not exact, through the details not being known. It is believed that the concession granted by England will provoke the defeat of the Ministry, and a dissolution of Parliament will probably take place in the autumn. The provincial Liberals and Press insist on the Htßhtimi ot complete influence in Egvi.t. New Australian hops are selling freely from M to .£8 per bale. June 11. At a meeting of the Colonial Institute, Mr Forster, Chairman, Htrongly advocated the Imperial federation. Sir Thomas M'llwraith, Premier of Queensland, will leave by the Messagerifs Maritime steamer on July 2nd Mr Barry Sullivan, the celebrated actor, is arranging for a tour through the Australian colonies. The Oriental Bank will probably make only one call, payment of which extends over a period of two years. A Committee has been appointed to assist the liquidation of the Bank. The latest information from Cairo states that Wady Haifa in now being attacked by the rebels. The French Government are sending presents to Abyssinia, including a number of cannon. June 12. The massacre of the Governor of Berber and the ganison, and all Europeans iii the town, is now confirmed.
Abyssinia is sending troops to relieve Kussalx, which is menaced by the rebels.
The fast passage recently made by the New Zealand Shipping Company's Ruapehn has been beaten by the Tongariro by eight minutes. The person whom it is alleged assassinated General Suderim, chief of the Russian police, has been arrested in Germany.
The Telegraph's Paris correspondent is of opinion that the speech recently made by Sir H. B. Loch, Governor of Victoria, indicates* much less aggressive colonial feeling. The National asserts the necessity of the present Senate settling the recidiviste question quickly. M. Courmeaux recommends the annexation of the New Hebrides by France.
