The Kumara Times. Published Every Evening. TUESDAY, JUNE 17, 1884.

It will bo seen by our Wellington correspondent's telegram, received at 4.15 p.m., that Parliament will probably be dissolved on Tuesday next. A large public meeting was held at Stafford on Saturday evening to protest against the removal of the Magistrate's and Warden's Courts from Stafford and Goldsborough. P. Dungan, Esq., County

Chairman, presided. Resolutions were adopted for presentation to the Government, showing that it would be a great injustice to the mining community of these districts ; that instead of a saving, the change would result in a large loss to the revenue of the district; and urging on the Government the appointment of a clerk. Copies of the resolutions were to be forwarded to the Government by telegraph, and also to Messrs Seddon and Fitz Gerald.

The ordinary meeting of the Hospital Committee takes place this evening. The various tenders for supplies to the institution will be dealt with at this meeting. All parties purposing to supply must send in their tenders to the Secretary, Mr L. J. Spyer, before 7 p.m. Within the last two or three days a large number of persons have visited the Kumara Hospital to inspect the new patent lever accident bedstead (invented by Dr. Monckton), and considerable interest has been shown on the subject. Some time ago when the obtaining one was under consideration by the committee we published a full description of it, and we are glad to find that the account we gave rather under-rated its advantages than otherwise. Local bodies are generally noted for progressive or enlarged views and we consider that our Hospital Committee is entitled to great praise for the many improvements it has effected ; among the most important of which we will instance the constant hot water supply, improved closet arrangements, underground drainage of the premises, and the introduction of a bedstead that for the relief of sufferers does credit alike to the designer and the Dunedin Iron and Woodware Company who manufactured it. Letters of Naturalisation under "The Aliens Act, 1880," have been issued in favour of Neils Paulsen, Friedrich Bruhn, Hans Gloy, goldminers, Kumara; Andreas Martin Sorensen, goldminer, and Thomas Tilgaard Lohmann, publican, Dillman's Town; and Heming Biinz, goldminer, Humphrey's Gully. We understand that Warden Giles has received instructions from the Minister of Justice to carry out the intended reremoval of the office records at Stafford and Goldsborough. A Court is to be held at Goldsborough on Thursday, the 26th inst., on which day it is probable that the office in that place will be finally closed, and the records moved to Kumara. A day will also be fixed for removing the Stafford Town records to Hokitika, the Stafford office being closed in the meantime.

A telegram received by the local agent at Auckland states that the Australia left San Francisco on time-table date, and she is clue there on the 28th.

There is as yet no sign of the Albion, which left Sydney for Wellington on the 3rd inst. It is feared she has broken down.

Mr John Tait, of Tait Bros., photographers, announces his intention of opening his studio in Kumara in a few days, every description of photographic work being considerably reduced. At the inquest at Auckland on Wellesley Hughes Lilewall the jury returned a verdict that the deceased committed suicide while in a state of temporary insanity. The revolver had five chambers loaded when found. He had been anxious to get reconciled again to his wife to live together. Some months ago he was charged at the Police Court Avith attempting his life with a revolver, and threatening that of his wife, while in delirium tremens, since which time she had separated from him.

As an evidence of the lateness of this year's harvest the Christchurch Press states that a crop of beans may now be seen in stook in a paddock belonging to a well-known farmer of Tai Tapu. Perhaps it can scarcely be imagined that a crop could be standing in stook at this time of the year, but such is the fact in the above instance.

Sonic very excellent specimens, showing plenty of green carbonate and black oxide, have been taken into Christchurch from the Malvern district by the party known as Smith's, and they intend shortly to have them tested.

It is almost a certainty that Elias Laycock will have another race against Hanlan, on the Parramatta. A flounder was lately caught near Nelson, having its mouth and stomach on the left side instead of on the right, as is the normal state of tilings with all respectable fish of this tribe.

Mat,akial Fevjbk. Malarial fevers, constipation, torpidity of the liver and kidneys, general debility, nervousness and neuralgic ailments yieid readily to this great disease conqueror, Hop Bitters. It repairs the ravages of disease by converting the food into rich blood, and it gives new life and vigour to the aged and infirm.—See
