Hannan, Esq ), Councillors Nicholson, Ziegler, Burger, Budkin, and Davies. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The outward correspondence was read and approved of; and the inward read, and received. Cr. Burger moved, and the Mayor seconded “That the Standing Orders be suspended, for the purpose of receiving a deputation from the Miners Committee,” The motion was put and carried. The deputation consisted of Messrs Creber, Borlase, and Nicholas, who, being introduced, applied to the Mayor and Countillors for pecuniary assistance to the miners for the purpose of sending delegates to Wellington, to apply to Parliament for a reduction in the price of water to the goldfields for sluicing purposes. After stating their views on the subject, the deputation withdrew. The Mayor then moved—“ That whereas this Council petitioned the House of Representatives setting forth

Burger’s name was added to the cheque signing committee. The Council then adjourned till Friday afternoon, at three o'clock.
