(Received June 3, 1.30 p.m.) June 3. The total number of horses in for the Cup is 134. For the Champage Race, 46 horses have been entered. The entries for the Caulfield Cup are not yet complete. (Received June 3, noon.) Sydney, June 3. Eighty-one horses have been entered for the Great Metropolitan Stakes to be run for at the Australian Jockey Club's Spring Meeting.
CRICKET. AUSTRALIANS V. DERBYSHIRE. (Received June 3,1.30 p.m) London, June 2. The Australians commenced a cricket match to-day against eleven of Derbyshire, at Derby. The weather was fine, and the attendance good; but the wicket was rather bumpy. The visitors went in first, and scored 273, the highest scorers being Bauuerman, caught and bowled, 46, and Palmer, not out, 57. Spofforth's hand being now healed, he was able to bat, and scored 19, caught. At the close of the day's play, the Home team had one wicket down for 26 runs.
