KUMARA HOSPITAL.

The ordinary meeting of the Hospital Committee was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening; present—Mr W. Nicholson (in the chair), Messrs T. Davidson. H. Burger, G. Watson, C. Harris, and F. Payne. The outward correspondence was read and approved of, and the inward received and considered. A sum of £6, received from Mr Reile, was considered as paid in full of all demands. A letter from Dr. Moncktoa, the Resident Medical Officer, stated that it was essential to the recovery of patients that early hours be adhered to, and asked that the hour for visitors leaving the Hospital be altered to 7.30 instead of 8.30 p.m. After due consideration, the Committee decided to alter the hour as requested. A letter from Dr. Monckton re a lock ward was referred to a sub-com-mittee to report upon in a month’s time. Messrs Hannah, Ziegler, Burger, and Nicholson form the committee. The balance-sheet for the quarterended March 31 was adopted. The consideration of Rule 3 then carao on for discussion, and was finally amended by substituting for the words “as outdoor patients, but shall find their own medicine,” the following : “ Ticket-holders to be entitled to advice at the Hospital, and medicine on pay-

ment of Is each prescription, and find their own bottles.” The rule therefore now reads as follows: “ 3. That yearly and half-yearly ticketholders be entitled to the benefit of the Institution after the expiration of the first month, free of charge, while residing in the Hospital. Non-ticket holders will not be admitted except in case of severe accident, or paupers, or in payment of £1 10s a week, iu advance, or on finding responsible security for the payment of that amount. Ticketholders to be entitled to advice at the Hospital, and medicine on payment of Is each prescription, and find their own bottles.—N.B.—Persons who are admitted to the Hospital as paupers and who are afterwards found to be in a position to pay will be required to pay the sum of 30s per week.” Receipts amounting to £9l 3s 6d were handed in as follow ;—By Mr T. Keile, £3 • by Mr H. Hope, £3 10s j by Mr F. Payne, £2 ] by Mr W. Nicholson, £1 ; Government subsidy, £Bl 13s 6d.
