LATEST BRITISH AND FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE.

[REUTER’S TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.

THE TASMANIAN LOAN.

COLLISION OF THE STEAMSHIP STATE OF FLORIDA. ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN LIVES LOST.

RETURN OF QUEEN VICTORIA,

ORIENTAL BANK CORPORATION LIQUIDATION.

(Received May 8, 4.45 p.m.) London, May 7. For the Tasmanian loan, tenders at £IOO 4s will receive 17 per cent, of allotment, and tenders above that price in full.

Intelligence has been received that the steamship State of Florida, trading between Glasgow and America, which was several days overdue, came into collision with a barque in the Atlantic Ocean and sank almost immediately. Of 160 souls on board, only 44 were rescued by the barque or saved in the steamer’s boats. (Received May 8, 9.50 p.m.) May 8. Her Majesty the Queen arrived at Windsor Castle from Darmstadt yesterday evening. The Oriental Bank Corporation, which suspended payment on the 3rd inst, was compelled to adopt this course in consequence of rapid and unexpected withdrawals of deposits at its Eastern branches. An examination which has been already made of the available assets shew that depositors will probably receive 17s 6d in the £, and in the meanwhile liquidators will undertake the management of the company’s estates in the Mauritius.
