The Selling Race was wou by Barney. DISTRICT HANDICAP. Lady Harris 1 Marie Stuart 2 Happy Jack 3 The Consolation was won by Hoppicker. The Stewards of the Jockey Club met last evening, to consider the protest entered by the owner of Levant against the horse Mustard in the Hurdle race contested on Monday. The meeting was, however, adjourned till to-day. CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB AUTUMN MEETING. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, April 14. At the Autumn Meeting of the C. J.C. the attendance was about five or six thousand ; the weather was cloudy, but no rain fell to speak of. The racing was good with the exception of the Hunt Cup Steeplechase, which was a very hollow affair. The totalisator realised about £6OOO. During the race for the Post Stakes yesterday Orange Peel, who had a bad start, took a short cut across the course; but when near the straight he fell, breaking one of his hind legs. This accident caused his death shortly afterwards. Stratford, who was riding him, sustained severe injury to the wrist and arm.
