It has transpired that the Euglish Government has submitted to the Governments of the various European Powers for their approval a proposal for the solution of the present financial difficulties of Egypt. The scheme offered for consideration includes a suggestion for the disbandment of the native army now maintained in that country. Telegrams are to hand from Cairo stating that a rumour is current at Souakim that Khartoum has fallen to the rebels, and that General Gordon is a prisoner in their hands. Obituary. Henry J. The customary Easter Volunteer Reviews were held yesterday at Portsmouth and Dover, when 30,000 were under arms. The manoeuvres were very successful, and were witnessed by large numbers of spectators. Late telegrams from Cuba state that the insurrection has collapsed, and that the insurgents are being rapidly dispersed by the royal troops, who had not met with any further opposition. Daly is suspected of complicity in the London explosions. Letters found in Egan's house show that Tynan is on his way to Paris to direct the conspiracy.
