A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Miners Association will be held in the Templars Hall, Dillman'3, this evening, at eight o'clock, when important business having reference to the new sludge-channel rules will be considered.

The contracts for clearing and grubbing sections 3,4, and 5 Kumara to Sea Beach road, were signed yesterday at the County Chairman's office. The following were the tenders: —Section 3—Accepted: Marshall M'Cahon, Kumara, £l6O ; declined : Costello, £300; Corrigan, £176; Hansbury and Co., £192; Eggleton, £180; Healy and Co., £260; Flynn, £220. Section 4—Accepted : Marshall M'Cahon, Kumara, £l6O ; declined: M.'Redmond, £l9O ; O'Brien, £IBB ; Eggleton, £162 ; Macnamara, £lB4 ; Hcaly and Co., £234 ; Flynn, £220. Section s—Accepted: Hansbury and Co., i>l26 ; declined : Flynn, £ll4, (informal); Healy £149 5s ; Eggleton. £156 15s; M'Redmond, £129 19s. Tait and party, who hold a special claim on Dunedin Flat, washed up on Saturday for the respectable amount of 148 ounces. This was for only 35i- days' water. A second share in Taylor and party's sluicing claim and tail-race, Maori Point, Greenstone, is for sale ; also a third share in the head water-races connected with the claim. The price is £6O, open for sale for one week. Further particulars can be seen on referring to the advertisement, or by applying to Mr Small, at the claim, or to Mr R. J. Seddon. A farewell supper was given last night to Mr F. J. Bennett, of the Union Bank of Australia, Greyinouth, prior to his departure for Hamilton, for which place he left this morning in the Manawatu. About 30 gentlemen, including most of the leading citizens, assembled at Gilmer's Hotel, where happy speeches, interspersed with some capital songs, were the powerful means for prolonging a most enjoyable evening to a late hour. The gross receipts at the Easter fete at Greymouth on Monday, including the proceeds of the concert in the evening amounted to the handsome sum of £209.
