Wellington, April 14. The weather to-day has been glorious and the attendance of the public at Island Bay encampment was only limited by the means of conveyance. Upwards of 5000 persons were present, and the sham fight and review were highlv successful, and passed off witho'.i* u-jcident of pny k : u-l. rp he ’ ill of V .p,;!v.i ti CaxMry -as gnat ! y a... aired, and the bayonet exercise by the whole battalion was admirable.
The Nelson men scored honors in the March past. The camp 'poke np to-night and are now marching in.
The Nelson and Wanganui contingents are expected to embark to-night. Altogether the camp has been highly successful.
Monkton, connected with the Lynch marriage case, was brought up at the R.M. court to-day, and remanded on bail.
The interprovincial cricket match was resumed this morning. Wellington in their second innings scored 204, leaving Canterbury 91 to win.
