TWO PERSONS KILLED; OTHERS SEVERELY WOUNDED. BURSTING OF A RAILWAY ENGINE BOILER. PARTICULARS OF THE INJURIES. (Received April 3, 0.55 a.m.) Melbourne, April 2. A service of welcome to the Rev. Dr. Barry was held in South Yarra Episcopalian Church this evening. A large number of the clergy of the Melbourne diocese were present. (Received April 3, 12.45 p.m.) April 3. A terrible railway accident occurred last night, at about ten o'clock, ou the Horsham line, near the Little River station, about 30 miles from this city. The passenger train from Ballarat came into collision with a special cattle train from Melbourne. Two persons were killed and niauy severely wounded. Another accident occurred last night on the Echuca Hue, at Sunbury, 24 miles from Melbourne. The boiler of the engine burst, aud the driver was severely hurt. The fireman of the engine is missing. (Received April 3, 2,25 p.m.) Latest telegrams from Little River give the following list of the injured : Misa Adams, of Sand ridge, severe shock and internal injuries; Daves, injured bead, and now in a comatose state ; Miss Dawson, badly shaken; Mrs Phoebe, of Latrobe street, severe shock ; Walter, fireman of cattle train, internal injuries and ribs fractured; M'Murtrie, guard of passenger train, shoulder dislocated and wound on the temple; a lady (name unknown), nose fractured and severely shaken; another lady, leg broken. The cattle train which came into collision with the passenger train consisted only of empty trucks. The collision took place at a curve, and the drivers were thus prevented from seeing their trains approaching one another until too late to prevent the catastrophe. (Received April 3, 2.45 p.m) Kitchen, the driver of the cattle train, who was the driver in the Hawthorn accident, got jammed between the engine and teuder. and died shortly after.
A woman, name unkown, in second class carriage, was injured internally, and died.
