Three more British regiments have received orders to return to their stations from Soudan, and Lave embarked at Souakim to-day. Telegrams from Souakim state that Admiral Hewett will start on his journey to Abyssinia to-morrow. (Received April 3, 2.25 p.m.) April 2. Telegrams to hand from Souakim announce that Admiral Hewett has decided that a force of 3000 British troops and a ship of war shall remain at Souakim. An English Governor of that town will also be appointed. >-~< [special to press association.] London, March 30. The friction supposed to have existed on Egyptian affairs between members of the Cabinet has been reduced. Gordon Pasha has made an unsuccessful sortie upon the rebel forces surrouuding Khartoum, and a panic ensued amongst the Egyptian troops, who immediately retreated and re-entered the city. March 31. "When Gordon Pasha made a sortie against the rebels surrounding Khartoum his Egyptian forces numbered 2000 men, who fled at the approach of sixty Arab horsemen, and they retreated into the city suffering great loss. It is estimated that fully 200 Egyptians were killed. The rebels captured two guns.
