(Received March 18, 10 p.m.) R. B. Fletcher, mining manager, of Sandhurst, who was recently arrested on a charge of embezzlement has been committed for trial. Sailed, this afternoon, the Union steamship Tarawera, for the Bluff. Sydney, March 18. Arrived, this afternoon, the Union steamship Wakatipu, from Wellington. The prisoner Williams has been found guilty of the murder of Elizabeth Phillips, the victim of the Wooloomooloo outrage, and has been sentenced to death. Rain has fallen over portions of the colony. Hobart, March 18. The rifle match between the Invercargill Rifle Corps and the Tasmania Rifle Regiment resulted in a victory for the local men. (Received March 19, 12,50 p.m.) Adelaide, March 19. Both Houses of the South Australian Parliament will be dissolved today. The general elections are fixed to take place in April. KUMARA HOSPITAL. ♦ The ordinary meeting of the Hospital Committee was held in the Town Hall last evening : present—Mr W. Nicholson (in the chair), Messrs Burger, Davidson, Ziegler, and Payne, The minutes of the previous meeting and of the delegates' meeting were read and confirmed. The balance-sheet was received and approved of. It was resolved that the list of medicines required be sent for to Sydney. The name of Mr C. Stockman was replaced on the Committee; and also that of Mr Thomas Jones, vice Mr R. Morgan (resigned). The appointment of F. A. Monckton, Esq,, by the Joint Committee of delegates to be Surgeon-Superintendent of the Rumara Hospital was confirmed. A memo from the Snrgeon-Superin-tendent stating that it was advisable to have a door from the Wardsman’s room into the passage was referred to the House Committee, with power to act. Receipts were handed in as follows : By Mr F. Payne, £5 10s; Mr T. Davidson, £2 ; by Mr J. Meade, £1 10s. Total, ,£7. This concluded the business of the meeting. The Fete Committee are appointed to meet this evening, at the same place, at 9 o’clock.
