(Received February 17, 4.30 p.m.) Sydney, February 16. The cricket match between the Australian Team and the Combined Team was continued here to-day, when the latter commenced and concluded their first innings, which closed for a total of 222. The highest scorer was Jones, with 88. (Received February 17, 0.25 a.m.) Being 96 behind their opponents, the Combined Team followed on their innings, and when the stumps were drawn for the day they had lost four wickets for 42 runs. (Received February 17, 4.30 p.m.) Melbourne, February 16. Mr Murray was elected to-day as representative in the Legislative Assembly for Warrnambool, vice the late J. S. Francis, (Received February 18, 2 p.m.) Hobart, February 18. The death is announced of the Hon. Thos. Daniel Chapman, President of the Legislative Council.
