KUMBHA HOSPITAL.
The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Hospital Committee was held in the Town Hall last evening ; present Messrs T. Davidson (chair), Burger, Zeiglev, Gr. Watson, Payne, Harris, Nicholson, Hope, and Hannah. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The outward correspondence was read and approved of, aad the inward read and received. A letter was read from the Acting Surgeon Superintendent (Francis A. Monckton, Esq.) drawing the attention of the Committee to the necessity of a hot-water supply for the Hospital bath. It pointed out the great benefit it would be in the treatment of cases, especially skin complaints, and mentioned that in the case of a miner smothered with a fall of damp earth a life would have been lost had not a hot bath been promptly applied. The letter was referred to the House Committee, to report at next meeting. The Wardsman's Report for the month of January was read and received. It stated that the total number of in-patients treated during that month was 8, of whom 3 had been discharged, 1 died, and 4 remained iu the Hospital. Thomas Kelly and George Morris, afflicted with typhoid fever, were discharged cured ; Martin Kohler, rheumatism, was discharged mrrelieved; Thomas Hodge, pneumonia and heart disease, died ; and Michael Lee, suffering from a fractured leg, John O'Connell and John Tucker, from pneumonia and F. J. Andrews, from synovitis, &c., were still in the Hospital. It was resolved that in future no drugs be procured, except authorised by the Committee. The Secretary was instructed to send in a list of patients for the past eighteen months who have been non-ticket-holders. The sub-committee appointed to report upon the best form, of entertainment to be given in Easter week in aid of the Hospital funds brought up their report. It recommended that a Frieudly Societies fete be held on Easter Monday, the same to wind up with an entertainment and ball. It was resolved that the Secretary write to the various Friendly Societies asking them to appoint two delegates to cooperate with the Hospital Committee in getting up a and that the first meeting bu huiu on Tiu-sday, the 19tU instant.
A letter was read and received from Mr Robert Morgan, tendering his re-signation.-—lt was resolved that the same be accepted with regret, and that a vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes to Mr Morgan for past services rendered by him in the interests of the institution. A vote of thanks was accorded to the Miners' Bill Committee for donation of £6, and Secretary was instructed to write a letter of thauks to that purport. Mr William Wads was appointed an auditor. Th'e following gentlsmen were elected .to fie House Committee :—Messrs T. Davidson, A. C. Campbell, and H. Hope. Receipts were handed in—By Mr C. Harris, £3; by Mr F. Payne, £2 10s; by Mr L. Ziegler, £3; from Mr; T. T. Jones, Secretary Miners Ball! Committee, £6.—Total, £U 10s. ; Accounts to the amount of £67 9s 6dj were passed for payment; and that concluded the business of the meeting. /
