COSMOPOLITAN BRASS BAND.

The adjourned meeting of the Committee appointed to form a Cosmopolitan Brass Band for this district was held in the Town Hall last evening ; present— Mr Seddon (chairman), Messrs Bass, Wells, A. Miller, D. Hannan (Mayor), A. C. Campbell, arid the Rev. J. Holland. Letters were read and received from Messrs Bass and Hope. Mr Bass gave a list of instruments which he thought would be required to form a Band, mentioned such as were available, and the probable cost of new instruments, complete; also, his terms for instruction. Mr H. Hope wrote to say that he was instructed by the Amateur Dramatic Club to inform the Band Committee that they could not at present give an entertainment in aid of the funds of the Brass Band, but that they would be happy to accede to the Committee's request at some future time. It was resolved that Mr Bass write to Messrs Begg and West (of JDunedin), and ascertaiu price of instruments. Messrs Bass and Miller were requested to draw up a rough draft of rules for the guidance of the Baud, and submit the same to the next meeting of the Committee ; and at same time to report upon applicants who wished to be members of the Band. { The meeting was then adjourned till next Mouday,
