KUMARA HOSPITAL.

A special meeting of the Hospital Committee was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening; present— Messrs Burger (in the chair), Ziegler, G. Watson, Harris, Payne, Campbell, and Davidson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The report of the special meeting held on Tuesday, 24th December, was received and approved of. A letter from Dr. Porter in reference to his departure from Knmara was read and received, and referred to the subcommittee and delegates appointed to deal with the appointment of a Medical Officer to the Hospital. The Wardsman's Report for the month of December was read and received. It showed that there were 15 in-patients treated, of which number 10 were discharged cured, relieved, &c, whilst five still remained in the institution on the 31st December. G. Ttftby, A. TJeid, J. discharged relieved; E. Simpson, domestic, was discharged for misconduct; aud Mrs Laraasou was discharged at her own request, unrelieved. Them therefore remained in the Hospital T. Keeley and G. Morris, suffering from typhoid fever; M. Lee, from a fractured leg; J. O'Connell, from pneumonia; and M. Kohler, from rheumatism.

Subscriptions, by Mr Harris £3, by Mr Nicholson £1 10s, by Mr Watsou £1 10s, were handed in. This amount, with Government snbsidy to October 2nd, £lB2, made the total receipts since last meeting £IBB. Accounts to the amount of £BO 16s were passed for payment, and the meeting then adjourned till Tuesday, the 22nd inst.
