KUMARA FIRE BRIGADE.
A meeting of the Fire Brigade was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening; present—Capt. Dove, Foreman Brayshaw, Lieut. Anderson, Treasurer Burger, Firemen Ziegler, Shroeder, Orams, Williams, Spyer, Pearce, and Foreman Close. Messrs Thos. Jones, and Thos. Nichol were elected members of the Brigade. Lieut. Anderson and Treasurer Burger were appointed an investigating committee. Fireman Carey tendered his resignation as Secretary, which was accepted. Nominations were then opened for the office of Secretary, Fireman Spyer and Foreman Close were found to be the two nominated. A vote was taken, which resulted in the election of Foreman Close as Secretary for the ensuing twelve months. Foreman Close then tendered his resignation as foreman, and. nominations were received for the office of foreman hook and ladder company. Deputy-Foreman Williams and Fireman M'Ewen were the only candidates. The Members' Fund receipts amounted to 18s. Two accounts, amounting to 15s, were passed for payment.
