An extension of time for the preparation of the Burgess Roll for the Borough of Kumara is notified in the Government Gazette just to hand, and a copy of the same appears in our advertising columns. The Burgess Roll and Defaulters List have been already notified as being open for inspection, and objections thereto must be lodged at the Town Clerk's Office not later than the 15fch inst. The list of objections may then be inspected from the lGtli to the 21st June ; the sitting of the Council to determine ciaims and objections will take place between the 22nd and the 30th June ; and the Burgess Roll is to come into force on the Ist August. Contractors are reminded that the tenders for the construction of a section of the long tunnel, Mikonui race, close at noon on Saturday next. , The annual licensing meeting for the Arahura district was held at Stafford yesterday ; present—all the members, viz., Messrs J. F. Byrne (Chairman), Jas. Murphy, R. Murray, J. J. Williams, and J. Tennant (appointed by the Governor in place of Mr Saudie, disqualified). Re-

newals of all the existing licenses were applied for and granted; the time of closing public-houses to be uniformly at 11 p.m. Mr Noonan's accommodation license was reduced to £5. The usual Thursday evening quadrille assemblies will be held this evening, in Kumara at the Theatre Royal, Seddon street (the admission being by the side door only), and in Dillmau's Town, at the new Public Hall. Letters of Naturalisation under "The Aliens Act, 1880," have been issued in favour of Jacob Guekert, Guiseppe Scetrini, and Thomas Lewis, goldminers, and Frederick Johan Simon Charles Henne, bushmau, all of Kumara.
