A telegram is to hand from Madagascar reporting that the Hovas have made overtures of pe"ace to the French commander, and that the French Government will exact a war indemnity from the Malagases. These statements have not yet been officially confirmed. Per Merchant Shipping and Underwriters Association :—Arrived, the ship Titania, from Lyttelton March 10th. ♦ LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. The two youths Ogden and Sutherland, who were found gnilty of committing atrocious murders in April last, in the Epping district, were executed today.
Melbourne, June 4. Private telegrams to hand from Foo Chow, dated June 2, report that the new season's crop of tea is better than the last season's, but no settlement is yet reported. The stock of Congos is 240,000 chests. The first cargo for Australia will not leave before four weeks after the opening of the season. THE MELBOURNE CUP ENTRIES.
