Per Merchant Shipping and Underwriters’ Association :—Arrived, ship Blitz, from Port Chalmers January 29 ; Waitara, from Wellington February 17; Coromandel, from Napier January 27. May 14. The whole of the Dublin tradesmen have received circulars warning them against having any dealings with the jurors who have been engaged at the trials of prisoners who have been convicted of the murders of Lord F. Caveudish and Mr Burke. The execution of Joseph Brady will take place to-day. Strong precautions have been taken by the police to prevent disorder. Bradlaugh has commenced a series of meetings in the provinces in favor of his being permitted to take his seat in the House of Commons. LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. PROPOSED WEEKLY POSTAL SERVICE WITH ENGLAND. THE POSTAL UNION. ARREST OF THE SUPPOSED BANK ROBBER. (Received May 14, 8 p.m.) Sydney, May 14. The New South Wales Government are treating with the Orient Steamship Company for the establishment of a fortnightly mail service to the United Kingdom, alternately with the Peninsula and Oriental service; and negotiations have been instituted with a view to ensuring a weekly postal service between New South Wales and England. Received May 15, 1.30 p.m.) Evening. Joseph Brady, the Phoenix Park murderer, was hanged to-day at Kilmainham Gaol. The proceedings passed off without disturbance. Fully 10,000 persons were outside the gaol, and when the black flag was hoisted, they all uncovered their heads. Intelligence is to hand from the West Coast of Africa that De Brazza lauded with a large party at Baboon on the 21st April. Stanley has not yet made a move with his party. Berlin, May 14 M. (Received May 15, 1 p.m.) May 15. Arrived, on Monday afternoon, the Hauroto, from Wellington. It has transpired that the New Zealand Government was invited' to acquiesce in joining the Postal Union, but has declined. Melbourne, May 15. A man named George Sweeney has been arrested at Sydney charged with the robbery of £6OO from the Colonial Bank at Brunswick, near this city, last month. The accused was bound for San Francisco when arrested.
