[united press association.] Wellington, May 8. A shocking fatal accident occurred at Feilding yesterday. A boy, ten years of age, named William Salisbury, was thrown from his horse. One of his feet caught in the stirrup and the horse plunged about and then bolted, dragging the unfortunate lad for about a mile. The body was found near the railway crossing shockingly mutilated, being disembowelled, while both legs and arms were broken and his skull was scalped and fractured. The body presented a most ghastly appearance. An inquest will be held. Christchurch, May 8. Near Hind's station, Samuel Cheson, fireman on the southern express, while firing up, was standing with one foot on the engine and the other on the tender, when suddenly the couplings parted, and Cheson fell. The whole train passed over him, mangling him dreadfully. His neck was broken, and right hand and left foot cut off. He wbs single, aged 30, and lived at Timaru.
