[united press association.] Auckland, May 1. Professors Walker and Tucker, of the Auckland University were out boating, when the boat capsised. Walker was drowned. Tucker got ashore with difficulty. The search for Walker's body was unsuccessful. He was single, aged 26, and arrived by the Rotomahana a fortnight ago. In the Supreme Court to-day in the case of Seddon and others versus Nancarrow and others, Mr Harper for plaintiffs, Mr Ga'rrick (with him Mr Weston) for defendants, for an order for removing defendants from office and declaring plaintiffs entitled to hold : As no statement of defence had been filed through defendants' inability to see notice of claim, it was arranged that Mr Garrick have three weeks for filing defence, Mr Harper to have leave to set case down again, he to give the other side a week's notice, and to move on notice. [from another correspondent.] Christchurch, May 2. The Education Board case, Messrs Seddon, Jack, and Rae v. Messrs Nancarrow, Taylor, and Warner, came before the Supreme Court, Christchurch, in Banco, this morning; Messrs Harper and Button for plaintiffs, Messrs Guinness and Warner for defendants. The defendants applied for an adjournment on the ground that they had no time to make affidavits; they swore affidavits to that effect. The case was adjourned till after the Court of Appeal was over; probably in about a month.
