KUMARA HOSPITAL.

The ordinary meeting of the Hospital Committee was held in the Town flail last evening; present—Mr A. C. Campbell (chair), Messrs Spyer, Stockman, W. Morris, Mansfield, Toms, and Burger. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Wardsman's Report for the month of March was read and received. It stated that the total number of patients treated in the Hospital during the last month was five, of whom two died, whilst three remained under treatment. H. Raiubow and Jonathan Marks were the two who died. Those who remained under treatment were— W. Murphy, of disease of the right thigh-bone; W. Menzies, paralysis of left side; and W. M'Leod, of perennial abscess. Accounts and salaries to the amount of £52 19s were passed for payment. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Borough Council for permission to use the Town Hall on every alternate Tuesday for the Hospital Committee to hold their meetings in. Mr W. Morris handed in £l2 10s, amount received by him for the sale of tickets, &c.; and a donation of £8 17s 6d was received from Mr R. Thimbleby, being an unexpended balance of subscriptions raised for the decent burial of the late Jonathan Marks. A report from the sub-committee appointed to ascertain the price at which certain rooms could be obtained for holding a concert in aid of the Hospital was read and received. It stated that Mr O. W. Anderson offered the use of the Theatre Royal free of charge, and the right of the outside bar of the hotel after 12 at night for £2; or from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for £4. Mrs King offered the use of the Adelphi Theatre free of charge, and the right of the outside bar of the hotel for £1 10s; or from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for £4. It was moved and seconded that Mrs King's offer be accepted ; but an amendment that Mr Anderson's Theatre Royal be engaged met with most favour, and the amendment was therefore carried. After resolving that another meeting of the Committee be held next Tuesday night, the meeting adjourned.
