[special to press association.] Christchurch, April 7. Gr. W. H. Lee, an old colonist, owner of Emir Bey and other racehorses, died suddenly at Oxford yesterday. J. B. Stout, of Lyttelton, one of the Canterbury pilgrims, also passed away yesterday.
Reefton, April 7. It is rumoured here that Mr Edward Shaw has retired from the contest for Inangahua, and that Eugene O'Connor of Westport has been requisitioned to stand.
