GREYMOUTH ANNUAL RACES.

The second day's racing was better if that were possible (the Argus says) than that of the first day. The racing too was exceptionally good, the contests being close and the finishes exciting. Laghmohr went off with the lead, and all the others were close up, all the horses taking the jumps in splendid style. It was soon seen that Orient meant to win, as he came up in grand style, with Whalebone lying close on his quarter. But notwithstanding the efforts of Whalebone and Hercules, Orient maintained the lead and won in good style, Whalebone being a respectable second. Hack Race, of 10 sovs ; 1£ mile. After a mile had been gone Albion put his best foot foremost and soon convinced everybody that he was master of the field. His win was very popular. Ahauka Handicap, of 20 sovs. : 1 mile.
