It is stated to be probable that Berry's re-election for Geelong will be opposed. It is announced that an amalgamation is to take place of the National Insurance Company and the Australasia and Australia Felix Insurance Company. (Received March 14, 1 p.m.) Sir Bryan O'Loghlen, ex Premier, who was defeated in the general election, has announced his intention of contesting the seat for West Bourke, rendered vacant by A. Deakin's acceptance of the portfolio of Minister of Works. The English cricketers were banqueted lust night by the Melbonrne Cricket Club, prior to their departure for England. (Received March 14, 12.40 a.m.) Sydney, March 13. The barque Victor, just arrived at Newcastle, reports that on the sth inst. she found the wreck of a large vessel bottom upwards off the coast of Tasmania. The wreck is believed to be that of the brig Louisa, which left Hobart on the 16th of December for Melbourne, and has not since been heard of.
