WATER-RACE AND SLUDGECHANNEL.
MEETING OF MINERS. A meeting of miners was held at Mr Peters’ Hotel, Dill man’s, on Saturday evening last. It consisted principally of those parties who took no action in the interview with Mr Gow on Friday morning, although some of them were present, Mr A. Creber was voted to the chair. On the motion of Mr W. Madill, seconded by Mr Fell, it was resolved—-
“ That a deputation consisting of one miner from each claim represented at this meeting wait on Mr Gow to ascertain how he considers our position, and to state that we intend to adhere to our prior rights.” It was also resolved, on the motion of Mr F. Thorn, seconded by Mr W. Madill—“That the manner in which Mr Gow has been distributing water hitherto, that is, giving water to parties according to their rights, meets with the approval of the meeting.” The deputation waited upon Mr Gow this morning, and submitted the names of the parties represented to be as follows : Borlase and party (7 men). Bourke and party (6). Wilkinson and party (6). Goodwin and party (5). Hardy and party (4). Roth well and party (5). Arthur and party (7). Meade and party (5). Romas and party (6). Madill and party (7). Netzband and party (6). Smart and party (6). M'Kinnon and party (4). Daw and party (5). Cairns and party (6). Mitchell and party (6). Rowley and party (7). Mitchell and party and Rowley and party seceded from the first deputation as they were misinformed of the purport of the petition. Mr Gow expressed his satisfaction with the resolutions. A vote of thanks to Mr Gow for his attention concluded the proceedings, and the deputation then withdrew.
