WARDEN’S COURT.
Wednesday, Junk 7. [Before H. A. Stratford, Esq., Warden.] KUMAHA APPLICATION'S. Frederick Thorn and party, Charles Stockman and party, Patrick Moran and party, Patrick Ilourke and party, Robert M'Glone and party, Harry Richards and party, and Thomas Rothwell and party, who held certificates for tunnel tail-races into the sludgechannel dating variously from 7th January 1881, to February 22nd, 1882, had their certificates made “ subject to agreement with Manager of Government sludge-channel from the 7th day of June, 1882,” and endorsed by the Warden. The following applications for tunnel tail-races into the Kumara sludgechannel were granted, subject to agreement entered into with Manager of Government sludge-channel from the 7th day of June, and are entered in the following order or priority of right : —John T. Nicholas and party, Joseph Meade and party, Thomas Lewis and party, John Rowe and party, David Ross and party, James Smart and paity, John Whi'e and party, Joseph Shrives and party, Pat-ick Caldwell and party, Joseph Cairns and party, David Moore and party, John Accourt and party, Daniel Rowley and party, Kol-eit Morgan and party, Alexander Reid and party, Robert Reid and party, Charles Griggi and party, John Isbester and party, Peter Grant and party, Charles Rhyning and party, Edward Johnston and party, George Watson and party, Stephen M‘Neil and party, Charles Clmsternnn and party, James Daw and part}'. The application of John T. Nicholas and parly was objected to hv Smut and party for the reason that the race of the former crossed theirs with only five or six feet of earth between. Mr D. Hannan appeared for the applicants, who stated that their application dated prior to the objectors’. The Warden stated that he could not take into consideration any work that had been done up to the present time, as such work was only done in anticipation of the certificates being granted, and neither party were yet in possession of their certificates. After a very careful investigation, assisted by the race manager, the application was granted, subject to agreement en‘eml into with the manager of sludge-channel, Kumara. Also that these applicants be held responsible for all damages tbev may cause Smart and party and Grant and party while crossing through these pm-
t'.es claims; and that Smart and party and Grant and party shall not be responsible for any damage done to this tail-race while legitimately working their claim. Objection withdrawn as far as regards tunnel tail-race. In the case of Patrick Caldwell and party also, for whom Mr Hannan appeared, the application was granted subject to agreement entered into with the manager of the Government sludgechannel, Knmara; and that the applicants be held responsible for all damage they cause Edward Hardy and party while crossing through their claim ; and tljat Hardy and party shall not be responsible for any damage done to this tail-race while legitimately working their claim. Several applications were renewed for residence areas. They were deferred, pending the decision of the Knmara Borough Council upon the same. GREENSTONE APPLICATIONS. Jeremiah Carew and party applied by their agent Mr Hannan, for a double-area claim and tunnel, which were granted. George Boyle and party, by their agent Mr Hannan, applied for a waterrace. The application was adjourned to the 21st inst. Patrick Drury and party withdrew their application for a double-area claim. David Harrold and party applied for a double-area claim, which was granted. Joseph Meade and party applied for a branch tail-race. The application was adjourned to the 21st inst. Bernard M'llveney and party applied foV a tunnel and tail-race. Both applications were granted. John Ishester and party applied for a double-area claim.—Granted. Joseph Cairns and party applied for a double-area claim.—Granted. Solomon Pascoe and party applied for a tunnel.—Granted, Alexander Be id and party applied for a branch-race.—Granted. *
