Three are at ill missing. The work of launching the ship City of Perth has been greatly delayed by bad weather. Jones and Ware, contractors for the Lyttelton dock, have served a writ on the Harbor Board for £2240 in dispute between them. June 2. The attendance at the Exhibition up to date has been 146,000. Cheap fares on the railway are advertised from June 4th to 25 th, in connection with the Exhibition, The Christchurch South Licensing Bench is the only one in which a new license can be granted. Dunedin, June 2. A case of a somewhat painful character was heard at the II.M. Court today. A well-known solicitor, J, H. Harris, sued a client for a small debt which his son, also a solicitor, had collected, The. sou declared that his father had given him authority to do so, but the father declared there was not a word of truth in the statement. The Magistrate gave judgment for plaintiff, on the ground that the defence must prove that the. pet sou collecting had authority to do so. He said he placed belief in the statement of plaintiff. It is understood that there are a number of cases of a similar character, and it is not improbable that the nutter will be further heard hi the Court. Invercargill, June 2. A strange diicovery has been nude at some sandhills near Waikawa beach. A few days ago two gentlemen living in the locality discovered a great heap of skeletons that had been uncovered by recent wind. Some aie nearly perfect, while otheis are mixed up in a chaotic mass of heads, hands, feet, arms, legs, .kc. It must have been many years since the grave was filled with its ghastly occupants and it is of course presumed that the remains are those of natives. Auckland, June 2. A sailor belonging to the Annie Milbank fell into the harbor last night while in liquor, hut was rescued by a Maori, Two horn's later he fell in again and was rescued a second time.
