ROYAL AUSTRALIAN SURPRISE PARTY.
A goodly gathering at the Theatre Royal last Saturday paid tribute to the excellent performances of the Royal Australian Surprise Party on that and the previous nights. The various feats on the horizontal bar, the lloor of the. stage, and the trapeze were witnessed with wonder and amazement, and also with much applause. The great “ Niagara leap,” in which the younger Alberto jumps from a pedestal ou the stage by a trapeze, turns a somersault, and is caught by his brother-acrobat, is a feat which requires to be seen to be fully appreciated. The audience on Saturday night were loud in their manifestations of praise at the daring intrepidity of these young men. Not less efficient and active in their parts were the tumblers, Messrs Tindall and Cnsco, and the antics of the little Japanese juggler, Joe Jam, were very amusing. We must not, as we did in onr last issue, forget to notice the astonishing feat of Cusc-i, who walks on a thin slack wire, and kneels, gets through a hoop, or gets into a sack at pleasure on the slender rope, which is °"ly j’>st of sufficient texture to support the weight of the performer. The entertainment concluded with a farce, in which four popular pedestal scenes were pouHrayed, and the audience went away well satisfied with the wonderful
skill which had been exhibited. The company perform at Goldsborough tonight, and at Stafford to-morrow night.
