A cablegram has been received from Sau Francisco stating that a registered letter containing £2OO iu notes, which had been posted at Picton for Wellington some months ago, had turned up there safely. The letter, it appears, was put into the wrong bag. The members of the Ministry have presented Mrs Hall with a handsome piece of plate, in token of the cordial relations that have existed between Mr Hall and the Ministry, and also their appreciation of the courtesy and kind neds which they have uniformly received from Mrs Hall.
Nelson, April 24. A fire at Mr Rutherford's mill near Brightwater is said to have broken on: iua large shed to die mill which was erected for flax dressing, and from this place the fire, spread to the mill. There, is estimated to have been between 2000 and 3000 bushels of wheat at least on the premises, and although some has Iwen S've.ri, even this is s:iid to be damaged. Mr Rnth-r----ford, who estimates his loss at £2OOO, was down south purchasing for his winter supply. The origin of the the cannot be accounted for. The Richmond fire brigade went to the SC e o of theconflagration, and although .m their arrival the mill was almost completely destroyed they did good service in saviug stores.
Patea, April 24. A serious mishap occurred to Cobb's coach at the bottom of Patea Hill today. The coach was going on steadily, when the leaders shied at a dray in the road and the coach went over a slight embankment and capsized. It was full at the time. Mr Hutchinson, solici-or, of Wanganui, was seriously injured, and a young lad sustained' a serious scalp wound, and is not expected to recover. A number of others are more or less injured. No blame is attached to the driver.
Dunedin, April 24. A visitor to the scene of the wreck of the Tararua states that the cemetery is in a very neglected state. The small head-boards at graves are all fallen down, <fcc. He suggests a public subscription to erect a simple but substantial monument, which would give particulars of the event, the number of bodies buried, and those known.
Christchukch, April 24. In addition to the burglaries already reported, the New Zealand Loan anil Mercantile Company's store in Durham street south was broken into on Friday night, and between £3 and £4 in cash stolen.
A man named Boyd, who was recently sentenced to' fifteen years at Napier for wrecking a train, and was removed to Lyttelton gaol, has gone mad and been removed to the Asylum.
