London, April 21. The death is announced of Mr Charles Darwin, M.A., F.R.S., the well-known naturalist and philosopher, aged 73. Mr Gladstone, as Chancellor of the Exchequer, will deliver a Budget Statement in the House of Commons on Monday, 24th inst. A great outcry has been raispd on account of the police circular, which it has transpired has recently hepn issued by the Irish Executive, notifying that escorts and magistrates will be held blameless if, having g >od reason to suspect that an attack is about to be made upon them, they should shoot persons who may be innocent of crime. The subject was brought up in the House of Commons last night, and Mr Forster, Chief Secretary for Itvland, acknowledged, in reply to a question, that the circular had been issued, and admitted that the action of the Executive was indiscree'.
During the debate which ensued, J. E. Redmond, a Home-rule member for New Ross, made a violent attack on the Government, and, refusing to be called to order, was suspended for alluding to Forster in vilifying language. An important meeting was held last evening to p-omote a fisheries' exhibition. The meeting was attended by many influential persons, among whom was Sir Henry Parkes. Premier for New South Wales, who referred to the proposed exhibition as likely to stimulate the hitherto neglected fisheries of Australia.
Calcutta, April 21. Telegrams have been received from Burinah, reporting that King Theban has caused the Queen and 52 notables of the Kingdom to be put to death. No details of the matter are yet to hand.
LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Melbourne, April 22. The body of a man believed to have been imndered has been found in the Friendly Societies' Grounds at Richmond. Ihe supposed murderer has been arrested by the police. The proprietors of the Melbourne Age have brought an action against the proprietors of The World, a weekly newspaper, to recover payment for the supply of special Euiopeari telegrams.
