THE DILLMAN-CHRISTCHURCH DRAY ROAD.
[By our Special Reporter ] I took a stroll up the new Dill man’s to Christchurch road one day during the week and found fair progress being made. The second and third sections are completed and I must say that Stewart’s work on the third section deserves every praise. Langdown’s Ho. 4 section is a long way behind, and reqniies to be urged up a little. Our old frh-nd Tim Corby is hard at work at No. 5, and though it would have paid him better to have let the job slide, still, he is doing good work, and will not be the last to finish. Section No. 6, John Whelan—This section is the furthest.behind, and if the penalties are not imposed, it will be a wonder to me. Whilst at all times willing to give a poor man a chance; still, I think men who will time after time take jobs at nearly fifty per cent, less than they are worth, why they must' at some time expect to get bitten, and be taught a severe lesson. The road should be open for traffic in about a month’s time if we have anything like fair weather.
