THE WATER-RACE MANAGEMENT.
(rd T&E fitJlTOß.] Sir—Your contemporary the West Coast Times seeing the Government sb stubborn in refusing to give way rb their demands for payment in advance for watei- suggests that thfe Wardens should be consulted. Now* -with Dh Giles there might be sbme Chance ot him helping the miners out of theit difficulty • but with Warden Stratford it would be as feasible to expect watet to rim up hill ds to expect him to assist the miners to resist the ukase of the water-hace management. No doubt lib has bfeen already consulted, and the clalise ill the teriils which makes an appeal to Warden Stratford final has been fully discussed ere it Was determined on. The terms and conditions of the Government bear the joint brands of the short shrive law department and the P. W. Muddle-it-np firm* both registered in Qraymouth, in the colony of New Zealand. Warden Stratford, Esq., and John Gow, Esq.j (manager of the Kumara race), are a veritable second atld living illustration of the brothers David and Jonathan; This assertion is easy of proofj any person paying a shilling can ascertain for himsed by searching the records of the Warden’s Court, where, lipon each application nearly will be found dn a nice little turned-down corner thb words “ Referred to Mr Gowj for advice Stratford.” “After carefully going into the. matter, I think this fcah be granted subject to Certain conditions,” &c., or “ The estimate is a fair one—John Gow.” In fact, there afe two persons acting as Warden for Krtin; arsi and yet where the value of work is to be determined the Warden refers it to Mr Gow, for adviCe. Under the Government terms as to assessing damages, if Mr Gow’s assessment is not satisfactory, appeal to Warden Stratford; whose assessment shall be finals It is just a case of—“ Ask my brother j am 1 a liar?” Now,- can justice be pected under such peculiar circumstances ? It bears the Bruraagem brand; and has therefore a right to be exposed; If this is not sufficient, I am well prepared with further startling revelations which will be given as a second 'edition should circumstances requite it. Paul Pry v. Anti-Bosh.-
