The City Council, at a special meeting, resolved to vote the expenses of a deputation of four gentlemen to Wellington re route to Coast and bi-weekly coast service, but Councillor Graham subsequently raised an objection that Council bad not legal power to do so. [hereupon, in aii hour or two to-day, the citizens subscribed the necessary funds, and the deputation will leave as soon as ministers will receive them. Christchurch, March 12. A man named Herridge was kicked by a horse at Woodend on the forehead and body, breaking his thigh badly. Herridge is in a bad state, and even if he recovers be will be in bed for at least two months. Dunedin, March 13. W. J. Burke has accepted th 6 challenge of Fagan, of Christchurch, to run a mile for £SO a-side and the championship of New Zealand. The race is is to be run iu Dunedin on or about the 20th May.
