BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, March 11. Intelligence is to hand from the West Coast of Africa that the Yamius (sic) have attacked an Ashantee village and killed some of the inhabitants.. The occurrence is likely to result in further hostilities, and it is feared that war between the two tribes is imminent. Capetown, March 10. The Natal Legislative Council has dissolved with the object of testing the public opinion of the colony in regard to the offer recently made by Earl Kimberley, Secretary of State for the Colonies, that Natal should be conceded responsible government. St. Petersburg, March 10. General Skobeloff, who was ordered to return to this city from London, in consequence of his speech to the Servian students in Paris, has arrived, and had an audience of the Czar. March 11. It has transpired that at the audience which General Skobeloff had of the Czar yesterday, his Majesty upbraided the General for his speech to the Servian students at Paris,- and stated that shell utterances would tend to cause Russia to be derided and hated by other nations. and further have the effect of placing her in an isolated position iri Europe. LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Melbourne, March 13. Jones, the Sydney cricketer, will join the. Australian team which proceeds to England. RETURN MATCH. —AUSTRALIA Y; ENGLAND. Melbourne, March 11. In the return cricket match between Shaw’s team and the Australian Eleven,after the innings ot the Englishmen,which do ted for 309, the Australians went in for their first innings, and when stumps were drawn for the day, had put together 228 for the loss of only five wickets. The following are the scores : —Bannerman, c 37; Murdoch, b 82; Horan, c 20; Massie, c 19; Giffcu, c 14; M‘Donnell, not out, 41 ; sundries, 12. March 13. The cricket match between the AllEngland Eleven and Australian team was resumed to-day. The weather was fine during the day, but the attendance of spectators was only moderate. The Australians continued their first innings, and were all disposed of lor a total of 300. The following are the remainder of the Australian’s scores:— M‘Donuell, c 53; B'ackham, c 3 ; Garrett, c 10; Palmer, c 34; Spofforth, not out, 3 ; sundries, 13. The Englishmen then commenced their second innings,. and when the stumps were drawn they had put together 234 for the loss of two wickets. r lhe following are the scores:—rlXlyett, c 64; Barlow, run out, 54; Selby, not out, 48; Bates, not out, 52.
