WATER AND THE SLUDGECHANNEL.
A meeting of the Miners’ Executive Committee was held at Peters’ Connelly’s Hotel, Diiimnn’s Town, last evening ; present—Mr G. Mansfield (in the chair), Messrs Thorn, (secretary), Morris (treasurer), and six of the Committee. A telegram from the Minister of Mines having been lead and received, it was resolved that a sub-committee be formed, consisting of the following : Messrs Chapman, Creber; Morris, Mansfield, Dennett, and Thorn, to draft a petition to the Minister of Mines for signatures re water and sludge-channel. And, on the motion of Mr Sellars, it was resolved Unit a telegram be forwarded to the Hon. the Minister of Mines, to request him to stay proceedings re Kumara water-race and sludgechannel until the committee has time to forward petition regarding same; said committee to meet at Mr Dennett’s room on Friday, at 7 p.m. The full committee will meet again at Connelly’s Hotel, on Saturday evening, at 7 o’clock.
