LATEST TELEGRAMS.

[new ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, March 6. Nothing has been heard of the Alpine Tourists, except that they were obliged to return to camp for provisions. Their intention was to get their camp near enough to the top if possible, to make it possible to climb to the summit and return in one day. To do this, however, it would be necessary to cut many hundreds of steps in the ice, which will be both tedious and dangerous work. Since this information was received from the explorers the weather has been cloudy and threatening, and probably Mr Green and his party have not yet been able to make the final attempt.
