A meeting of the Kumara Hospital Committee was held last evening, at the Secretary's room ; Toms (in the chair) Spyer, Morris, White, Morgan, and Wilson. After the minutes of the previous meeting had been read and confirmed, nine tenders for the supply of firewood were opened. The tenders for rata varied from only 22s to 24s per cordj and piue and birch from 12s to 15s. Messrs Shepherd and Co.'s tender, rata 225, and pine 12s, was accepted. Sums were handed in to the amount of £l2 0s 6d—by Mr W. Morris, £1 10s ;by J. White, £1 ; by the Secretary, £9 10s Gd. Messrs Pearn, Toms, and the Secretary were appointed a committee to receive the proceeds and liquidate the expenses of the concert and ball, in conjunction with the Westbrook Committee. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the Westbrook Committee. The mail coach arrived from Springfield, bringing Christchurch and East Coast mails at 3.15 this afternoon.
