The Kumara Times. Published Every Evening. WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 18, 1882. THE MINISTER OF MINES' RECEPTION.

Tliis evening, at about seven o'clock, the i!on. William Rolleston, Minister of Mines, Minister of Lands ami Immigration, and Minister of Native Affairs, will arrive in Kumara. He will piobably be accompanied by Mr O. Wakefield (Under-Secretary of Mines), Mr Martin (District Engineer), Mr Mueller (Chief Surveyor of the Westland District), and not improbably also by IT. A. Stratford, Esq., R. M., Mr A. R. Guinness (the Grey County Chairman), and Mr Butler (County Engineer). He will be met at the boundary of the counties of Westland and Grey—the junction, we can now happily call it, which is the Teremakau bridge—by Mr R, J. Seddon, M.H.R., Mr P. Dungan (the County Chairman), Mr J. O'Hagan (Mayor of Kumara), Mr James Wylde (Town Clerk), and possibly the Hon. Secretaries and some other members of the Reception Committees. Witlioiit'any other ceremonies than what are common to introductions, Mr Rolleston will proceed to his apartments at the Crown Hotel, Kumara, and later in the evening he will receive the Mayor and members of the Borough Council, and a deputation of members of the Reception Committees. To-morrow morning the Hon. Mr Rolleston will visit the public schools, on leaving which ho will be accompanied by several members of the Reception Committees, and will proceed along

Fifth and Seddon streets as far as the boundary track, where he will be met by the Dillman's Town Reception Committee, who will interview him. He will then be escorted over The Lead and its workings', first visiting the Long Tunnel claim, which will have all the heads of water available and the process of sluicing in full operation. What Mr Rollcston will see at this claim will no doubt give him a very good idea of the scores of claims which we hope to see in like operation before many months, partly as the result of this the Minister of Mines' visit to this goldfield.
